Wayne Rooney - Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney's sponsors Nike have confirmed that they will continue to work with the player despite the recent allegations regarding his private life.
Tabloid reports have appeared in the last few days detailing an alleged extra-marital affair with a prostitute that Rooney had whilst his wife was pregnant.
But Nike, who also maintained their relationship with golfer Tiger Woods after the media storm surrounding revelations about his private life surfaced earlier this year, insist they will stand by Rooney.
"We have worked with Wayne for seven years and he continues to be a Nike athlete," a statement from the sportswear giants read. This is a private matter for Wayne Rooney and his family and we have no further comment to make at this time."
EA Sports and Coca-Cola, two of Rooney's other high profile brand associates, earlier released statements to a similar effect.
